From 3 July to 1 August, the “Nights of Archeology”, an initiative promoted by the Tuscany Region now in its twenty-first edition, also returns to the Maremma Museums. This year has a value of hope, that of the restart of activities, after a year marked by the difficulties caused by the health emergency caused by Covid-19. The Nights of Archeology are therefore an opportunity to participate in visits and insights into museums and archaeological areas that resume welcoming the public in presence and online. Also this year with the Nights of Archeology, we want to promote our most ancient past, also giving a positive signal, a sign of recovery of the cultural and tourist life of our region. Many museums and archaeological areas of the museum network of the Province of Grosseto that have joined the Nights of Archeology with proposals suitable for an audience of all ages and with a wide range of guided tours, extraordinary openings, educational workshops, tastings, meetings and shows. The MuVet - “Isidoro Falchi” Civic Archaeological Museum of Vetulonia

, has organized five events for the Archaeological Nights which have as their main theme the new large exhibition exhibited in the “Taras e Vatl. Gods of the sea, founders of cities. Archeology of Taranto in Vetulonia ”. A new showcase will be inaugurated on Saturday 3 July from 7pm to 11pm for the European Museum Night 2021 with exceptional finds from the Mura dell’Arce deposit and free guided tours of the exhibition. Thursday 8 July from 10.30 to 11.30; from 5 pm to 6 pm there will be a didactic archaeological laboratory “The vases tell. Edition 2021 ”The precious painted vases of the exhibition on gods and marine creatures of the ancient cities of Taranto and Vetulonia have always handed down the stories of classical mythology. We will learn to listen to their tales and learn more about gods and heroes. For children aged 6 to 12.

where two evenings are planned for the “Archeology Nights”. Thursday 8 July from 9 pm to 11 pm with the guided tour at night "Myths and legends at the Ravi Marchi Minera". A guide will accompany visitors to discover the starry sky and the mythical stories that see it as the protagonist, within the evocative setting of the Ravi-Marchi mine. It is recommended that you bring binoculars, if you have them. The second evening will take place on Thursday 22 July entitled "The night mine" always from 9 pm to 11 pm and will be dedicated to the Ravi-Marchi pyrite mine, which, on this exceptional occasion, can be discovered and investigated more thoroughly thanks to the narration of an expert guide. Both events follow anti-covid regulations and provide for a maximum of 30 people per evening; for this reason, it is highly recommended to make a reservation. Museum of Cast Iron Arts of Maremma, ex Ilva area, on Friday 16 July at 6 pm, here is the Life and Work event in the early 1900s foundry: a guided and multisensory journey through industrial archeology. Through the collaboration with the DRAGO (Organized Rural Agricultural Gastronomic District of the Metalliferous Hills), demonstrations and thematic games on biodiversity will be proposed that will make us understand the evolution of the species cultivated in the Follonian territory, exploring those in use during the period of ILVA activities.
The educational demonstrations aimed at children and families will focus on the recognition and study of grains and will end with the tasting of a factory menu, made with recipes and raw materials typical of the period in question. At the same time, Coop. Zoe will offer guided tours for groups to show the spaces of the village - factory, both those that characterized the work, with the different types of ovens and production plants, and those related to the private sphere, such as the houses, the mill and the infirmary . Lights, shadows, sounds, smells and flavors will help to recreate the atmosphere of the time in the minds of visitors, in a Follonica that still lives in the historical memory of the Magma Museum.
While the DRAGO operators will organize the educational workshops, those of the Coop. the programming of the Archaeological Civic Museums for the summer of 2021, which began in June, continues in July 2021 with other important initiatives that are part of the Nights of Archeology. On July 18, the inauguration of the exhibition entitled "Lions, Sirens and Sphinxes. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" on the Etruscan-Corinthian ceramic production of the Orientalizing period is scheduled, depicting subjects belonging to the cd. Etruscan “fantastic bestiary”.
In the exhibition there is a vulcente statue depicting a winged lion (VI century BC), of extraordinary value, coming from the excavations of 2019 at the necropolis of the Osteria di Vulci, for the first time exposed to the public after being in the rose of five most important archaeological discoveries in the world nominated for the "Special Award" dedicated to the memory of Khaled al-Asaad, director of the archaeological site of Palmyra, brutally killed by a group of jihadists in 2015. The exhibition will remain open until 19 September 2021. The programming of "Author's Spaces.
