Piazza Guelfi - Scarlino
The documentation centre was founded in 2009 with the aim of disseminating the results of excavations in the area of Poggiotondo, in the valley of the Alma river, which led to the discovery of a necropolis and an Etruscan villa dating back to a period between the eighth and fifth century BC. The centre also houses the exhibition entitled “The Etruscans in Scarlino”, with the most significant finds of funerary objects and a rich educational tools through which it is possible to retrace the phases of the Etruscan settlement in the Scarlinese territory, with particular attention given to the archaeological area of Poggio Tondo (open from sunrise to sunset).
